ABIDJAN / CAPE TOWN — State-owned petroleum company Petroci Holding has unveiled an ambitious upstream roadmap at African Energy Week, detailing plans to mobilize more than $10 billion in private and public capital by 2030.
The aggressive expansion capitalizes on massive offshore hydrocarbons strikes made by Italian major Eni at the deepwater Baleine and Calao South fields, which hold an estimated 2.5 billion barrels of crude and 3.3 trillion cubic feet of associated gas.
Director-General of Petroci Fatoumata Sanogo affirmed that phase two development will ramp crude output from 22,000 to 150,000 barrels daily, with surplus natural gas piped directly to the Azito and Ciprel thermal power stations in Abidjan.
The strategy ensures that Côte d'Ivoire will meet 100% of its domestic electricity consumption needs while expanding clean power exports to neighboring Burkina Faso, Mali, and Liberia through the West African Power Pool.
